Masonic Family Holiday Country Dance Party
On Saturday, December 6th, the Connecticut Masonic Family threw a holiday country dance party for DeMolay and Rainbow at the New Haven Masonic Temple. Everybody put on their best flannel shirts, christmas sweaters, and jeans as they sashayed, do-si-doed, and stripped the willow (yes that's an actual dance step) to the beat of some down-home counrty music.
The dances were lead by a pair of professional traditional country dancers who made each step easy to understand and loads of fun to execute. Bro. William Mackey, Grand Commander of the Knights Templar in Connecticut, emceed for the evening and showed that he could still dance with the best of them (although I must say that Nick Carpenter fellow gave him a run for his money).
There was also a raffle that night. one of the three baskets was won that night with the two others to be drawn at a later date.
Overall, it was a wonderful evening for the entire Masonic Family as the members of DeMolay and Rainbow were able to meet the Masonic bodies that support them while the members of our Masonic Family showed their support by coming out and donating to our respective organizations. The profits from the dance were subsequently donated to Connecticut DeMolay and Rainbow.
