Region 1 Softball Tournament
Over the weekend, representatives from Connecticut DeMolay participated in the Region 1 Softball Tournament against Rhode Island and Massachusetts DeMolays. Connecticut dominated in all 3 games and took first place!
Connecticut State Master Councilor, Nick Carpenter, Region 1 Cabinet Member and Past Connecticut State Master Coucilor, James Cavanaugh along with Ryan Ruszczyk and Ethan O'Day provided the offense. Connecticut State Chaplain, Evan Ruszczyk provided outstanding pitching. Jeff Rowland provided shutdown defense at both second base and left field. Ethan O'Day hit 2 homeruns and Ryan Ruszczyk hit 1 throughout the tournament. Evan Ruszczyk recorded 6 strikeouts in 10 innings of work and posted a 4.50 ERA. Jeff Rowland made a stellar diving catch in left field and James Cavanaugh recorded 3 double plays including one with an assist from Evan after an amazing diving catch. A bizzare play happened in the field when State Marshal, Ryan Wenz fielded a groundball at third base and proceded to tag Evan Ruszczyk, who was playing shortstop. Justin Hawkins was the only left handed thrower on the team and hit very well.
