From all of Connecticut DeMolay to you:

No matter what religion you practice, please have a safe and joyous Holiday Season.

How is your Chapter observing Day of Comfort?

    A news clipping from 1924:

This special day should be held during the Thanksgiving-Christmas season on a day convenient to the Chapter. On DeMolay's Day of Comfort, every member of DeMolay should make an effort to visit the sick and carry words of comfort to those who are confined.

State Master Councilor's Message

Hello brethren,

As we are winding down on 2013, I can not speak enough on the growth of my DeMolay experience while serving as your State Master Councilor. With that said, 2013 is not over yet and there is still plenty of time to make the most of the rest of the calendar year.

If your chapter still has candidates waiting to receive the degrees of DeMolay, Edward W. Slade Chapter and Doric Chapter will be doing degrees this month so keep bringing in members.

I would also like to inform of you of some things that will be going on in January that I would like chapters to do. Over the course of the month of January, Connecticut DeMolay will be holding a Postal Bowling Tournament over the course of the entire month. Rules and specifics will be sent out soon. January is also installation season for many Masonic Lodges in the state, including those that sponsor your chapters. I encourage you to attend your sponsoring body's Installation of Officers. It is a welcome opportunity for your chapter to connect with them and can create a possibility for your lodge and chapter to do joint events in the future.

Congratulations everyone for the job that you have done on behalf of DeMolay and on behalf of yourselves. I have seen nothing but great things in Connecticut this year and I look forward to 2014 with open arms. If I don't see you between now and the conclusion of this year, Happy Holidays and have a Happy New Year.

Holiday Dance

Sleeping Giant Chapter, in North Haven, will be hosting this year's Holiday Dance on Saturday evening December 14th from 7-11pm.  The cost will be $6.00 per person and $11.00 per couple.

This year we will crown the Holiday Dance King and Queen as well as awarding prizes for Best Holiday Tie (as voted on by the ladies) and Best Holiday Scarf (as voted on by the guys).

O' Come down to North Haven for some Holiday Cheer on December 14th -- It won't be a Silent Night, for sure.

Traveling Gavel Update

The Traveling Gavel is still in North Haven, with Sleeping Giant Chapter.  To claim the gavel, bring 5 Chapter members to visit one of their stated meetings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays (no meeting will be held on 12/24 for Christmas eve)

If multiple Chapters are in attendance, the visiting Chapter with the most members present will take the gavel home.  If both visiting Chapters have the same number of members present, the Chapter that drives the furthest (from their home meeting place) will claim the gavel.
