Connecticut DeMolay will honor Grand Master of Masons, James T. McWain with an Initiatory Degree on the first new members of 2012.
In addition, we will issue service pins to those Senior DeMolays who are residents at Masonicare. This will be a great afternoon of sharing and a memorable introduction to DeMolay for our newest members.
All Chapters who bring in a member at Grand Masters Class will receive an extra five dollars per person refund on Winterfest 2012 participants.
Please confirm with Executive Officer Harry Needham on your number of candidates and members attending. eo@ctdemolay.com

Building the Standard in 2012
Connecticut DeMolay
A New Year and a time for Reflection
In the past ten years, we have achieved extraordinary growth and DeMolay experiences. We have excelled in DeMolay knowledge, leadership and positive DeMolay experiences for all. We have met the many challenges of building a program that needed help. More importantly, we have molded young men into leaders, we have enriched their lives and we have helped them become the men society so often desires. Well done.

A New Year and a time for Action
2011 saw a decline from our great growth years of the past decade. This happens because membership is often cyclical and because we get complacent in our success. I can tell you however that membership is the key to our future. Our mission this year is to build a new standard. Let us not be accepting of just meeting net growth, lets not be accepting of mediocrity and lets not be accepting of this is the way we always do things.
Lets instead challenge ourselves and our chapters to bring home that Blue Honor Key mentality. I want every chapter to set a goal of at least ten. I challenge every DeMolay to get those 10 and earn that Blue Honor Key. This goal if achieved will double our DeMolay International Goal of 62 members for net growth. I know we can do this and I will work my hardest to get you there.

Building the New Standard
In the coming weeks, I will be meeting with all chapters to complete their "Building the Standard" plan for 2012. It is my expectation that you be prepared to present a date for your Membership Recruitment Event, not just a prospect party, but a Blue Honor Key effort with real prospects.
Each chapter will hold an event between February 15th and May 15th that will encompass the methods learned at our membership conference last December.
They should include a recruitment list gathered from many areas, (home, school, personal, commercial and the public) The recruitment list will then be invited to a Prospect Event. Publicity for this event will include personal letters to potential participants, face to face promotion of your event in public places, recruitment of prospective members from our masonic families (referrals), and electronic and printed mediums.
At the Dads and Chairman meeting on January 22nd, I will ask you for 2-3 dates for this event. Give yourself time to plan and invite and give yourself options in case two chapters come up with the same date. But come to the meeting prepared to be the standard. We owe this to those young men who will live the DeMolay Experience.
Thank you for your help in "Building the Standard in 2012."
